Frequently asked questions

Is SEVA.GIS free?

Yes. It is free, open-source and needs no API keys or subscription.

Do I need to create an account?

No. You can start right away. Your farms are saved in your own browser, not on a server.

Which satellite does it use?

ESA Copernicus Sentinel-2, with 10 metre images roughly every five days, subject to cloud cover.

How up to date is the image?

The app picks the newest scene with under 30% cloud from the last 60 to 180 days.

What can I measure?

Crop vigour (NDVI), leaf moisture (NDMI), standing water (NDWI), nitrogen and chlorophyll (NDRE), canopy structure (EVI) and bare soil (BSI), plus terrain, weather and soil data.

Which languages are supported?

English, Hindi and Telugu.

Can I use it on my phone?

Yes. Open it in your browser and use Add to Home screen to install it as an app.

Is it accurate?

The indices come from real satellite data, but a satellite shows where a crop is weaker, not why. Pest and moisture scores are rules of thumb, not forecasts. Always confirm in the field.

Where is my data stored?

Only on your device. Clearing your browser data will remove your saved farms, so download reports you want to keep.
